The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) announced that asteroid 2023 VD6 will pass close to Earth on Saturday, December 23.
This was reported by NASA’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), Ukrinform reports.
According to NASA, the length of the celestial body is 152 m.
The distance from it to the Earth will be 4.07 million kilometers. The speed of the asteroid is 55,656 km/h.
If an asteroid approaches Earth at a distance of less than 7.4 million km and its size exceeds 150 m, NASA considers it a “potentially hazardous object.”
It is noted that the asteroid 2023 VD6 falls within the scope of two parameters at the same time.
As reported by Ukrinform, the US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) reported that asteroid 139622 (2001 QQ142) passed near Earth on December 6.
