LG combines design and smart TV features in three new 32-inch 4K monitors

The LG 32SR85U is the top model that supports 90-watt charging via USB-C and is equipped with a detachable webcam.

Before CES begins on January 9th, LG is launching three new 32-inch 4K monitors called MyView Smart Monitor. This follows in Samsung’s footsteps, which started the trend last year with the Smart Monitor M8 devices.

The focus is on multimedia, productivity and design. The manufacturer wants these monitors to be installed centrally in the household or home office. The monitors are available in four colors: white, beige, pink and green. The colors are somewhat reminiscent of Apple’s iMac devices.

The smart TV features run on webOS, the same operating system LG uses for its TVs. To complete the set, the monitors each come with a remote control.

In addition to multimedia displays, the LG MyView monitors can serve as a cloud solution for using Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, for example. You can connect a mouse and keyboard via the USB ports or Bluetooth. This eliminates the need for a PC when only working within these ecosystems.

You can also run Windows 365, eliminating the need for the monitor to have a separate thin client. They depend on how long the monitor guarantees software updates. LG does not provide any further information on this.

Every model has USB-C

The three models all have a 32-inch 4K screen with a refresh rate of 60 Hz. According to LG, they have a DCI-P3 color gamut of 95 percent. Each monitor has two integrated speakers. If desired, you can mount the monitor via VESA 100×100. The maximum brightness is 400 nits. The cheapest model can deliver up to 350 nits.

The top model LG 32SR85U has three USB-C ports that can deliver a maximum of 90 watts. A removable webcam is included. The recommended retail price is 599 dollars, the equivalent of 657 euros including VAT.

The LG 32SR83U retains the three USB-C ports, but can only deliver up to 65 watts of power. There is also no webcam included in the scope of delivery. In the USA the monitor costs 499 US dollars, i.e. 547 euros including VAT.

The 4K 32-inch base model with webOS, the LG 32SR70U, has a USB-C port that delivers just 45 watts of power. The other two USB-C ports become USB-A. This monitor does not support the optional built-in webcam. A suggested retail price has not yet been announced.

When and at what official price the monitors will come to Europe is not yet known.
