Kia Corp., South Korea’s second-largest automaker in terms of sales, said 2023 sales will reach a record high of about 3.08 million units, thanks to rising overseas demand for SUV models.
As reported by Ukrinform, Yonha reported this.
The company announced that it sold 3 million 85 thousand 771 vehicles, up from 2 million 901 thousand 797 units last year, thanks to the increasing sales of Sportage, Seltos and Sorento SUV models.
The previous record, set by Kia in 2014, was sales of approximately 3.03 million cars per year.
While Kia’s international deliveries increased by 6.7 percent compared to the previous year, reaching 2 million 516 thousand 383 vehicles, its domestic sales increased by 4.6 percent to 556 thousand 660 vehicles.
Sportage was the most popular model abroad. While approximately 520,000 units were sold, Sorento became the best-selling model in South Korea (85,811 units).
As reported by Ukrinform, Tesla delivered 484,507 electric cars in the fourth quarter of 2023; This is above analysts’ expectations of 477,000 units.
