Samsung presents its new Odyssey OLED monitors

The Odyssey OLED G9 is the most interesting model of the new series of monitors that Samsung presented before the gates of the CES 2024 fair, where they will be exhibited, which also includes the G8 and G6.

All three monitors use screens “Glare-free OLED”. According to Samsung, this will allow customers to experience the best image from the monitors in any lighting conditions. They are compatible with the VESA high dynamic range standard, DisplayHDR True Black 400, and are also compatible with FreeSync Premium Pro, an image synchronization technology that will help in the PC gaming section. We’ll leave you with its main specs.

It has technology that it calls Samsung ‘Multi Control’which allows users to easily transfer images and/or text between the monitor and other Samsung devices, including laptops, tablets or Galaxy Book phones, for a smoother and more efficient keyboard and mouse workflow.

It is compatible with Samsung’s proprietary technology SmartThings Hub, responsible for connecting Matter-compatible smart home devices. They will also have integrated Gaming Hub and Samsung Smart TV platforms for streaming movies, TV shows and games from the cloud without the need to connect to a computer. It’s an interesting feature that will be forced to take advantage of these large screens in the future, as we recently saw in the LG MyView presentation.

Odyssey OLED G8 and Odyssey OLED G6

The G8 and G6 also have the same type of display with organic light-emitting diode technology, but with flat panels with a 16:9 aspect ratio. The first offers a diagonal 32 inches with native 4K resolutionwhile the other reduces the size to 27 inches with 2K resolution.

Both have a new thin metal frame with a thickness of just 3.9 mm. Both also include support for what the company calls Core Lighting+, which generates ambient light from the back of the monitor. The G8 has the technologies that Samsung includes in the G9, SmartThings Hub, Smart TV and Gaming Hub.

As for their refresh rates, let’s say the first one increases to 240 Hzwhile the other reaches 360 Hz. High values that together with AMD FreeSync Premium Pro allow them to be used perfectly with PC games.

Samsung hasn’t revealed pricing or availability. We’ll find out at the Las Vegas show where they’ll be on display, along with the rest of the new Odyssey series features. We’re going to see some new features for what is the most important peripheral on any PC.
