A total of 24 people were slightly injured on Thursday. NY when a train carrying passengers collided with another train that was taken out of service, an incident that has caused major service disruptions on the city’s west side and could continue into Friday.

On the first route, there was a collision between two trains, one of which was carrying 300 passengers. it happened in the tunnel near 96th Street and Broadway station around 3 p.m. local time, New York City Transit (NYCT) President Richard Davey said at a news conference.

“Trains are literally fortunately at low speedThey collided north of the station,” Davey said, also noting that while he hopes to restore service to trains 1, 2 and 3 on that route, he believes it will “take time” to do so completely, although they and will work all night.

The train, which was out of service, was used for track work, and hired several employees. He was changing routes when he was struck by a vehicle carrying passengers in its 10 vehicles, something Davey said “should not have happened” and will be part of an investigation by NYCT, New York’s largest public transit agency. USA, under the control of the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA).

The MTA does not believe the crash was due to equipment failure.

Davey further explained during the conference that the train was not running. Many emergency brake cables were torn out. and although most were recovered, one of them prevented the locomotive from leaving the station after being struck.

“We’ll get to the bottom of it and make sure what happened doesn’t happen again,” Davey said.

One of the passengers told the network CBS that the train he was on “started to shake, shake, shake, shake, very violently. Everyone was scared and screaming. There were a lot of children. “Everyone was trying to call 911.”

The police helped the passengers get out of the car and onto the platform. Although the injuries were minor, some were taken to nearby hospitals.

Mexico’s Consul General in New York, Jorge Islas, confirmed at 6:50 p.m. that until then was the “white balance” of Mexicans in the New York incident.

There was not a single compatriot at the scene of the events, and, as a result, no injuries or injuries reported.
