Toyota will evaluate the situation of its suppliers for the period after January 15 before determining its current production capacity.

Previously, the Japanese automaker had announced that production could not start on the planned date due to damage to suppliers during the earthquake.

Toyota has faced a number of production problems in recent years; this includes October, when a supplier was forced to halt some of its domestic production for 10 days after an explosion at its facility that caused a shortage of spring components.

In March 2022, a cyber attack on another supplier caused production to halt at all of its factories in Japan.

According to Ukrinform, the strong earthquake that shook Japan on January 1 and caused many deaths and destruction on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa, central Japan, increased the coastline in this region up to 175 meters.

The death toll has risen to 126, and more than 200 people are still missing.
