Samsung used the opening of CES 2024 to present its new line of TVs for 2024. And as befits and belongs to the world’s leading retailer (courtesy of LG) with a wide range between the Neo QLED and OLED series and 4K and 8K resolutions. As a novelty, the Asian giant showed a preview of transparent MICRO LEDs, which were also presented by its rival LG.
The Neo QLED 8K They are leading the restoration of the line. Samsung says so “up to 40% of users” They are considering the jump to 8K. We don’t know if there will be that many, as the lack of content makes it still advisable to go for 4K, but the company believes it’s time to jump.
Therefore, Samsung proposes the Neo QLED QN800D and QN900D as the head of its new line. Both will be sold in versions from 65 to 85 inches. The main innovation of these televisions compared to their predecessors is the AI processor, which has been updated to the third generation.
The new engine is the NQ8 AI Gen3, which promises to double the performance for tasks involving artificial intelligence, such as upscaling SD and HD content to 4K-like resolutions, while achieving similar results with 4K upscaling to 8K. The QN900 also has a redesigned design and is advertised as “the thinnest 8K TV on the market”.
Other notable features of these 8K QLED TVs include features Real Depth Enhancer Pro (for better mini-LED control) aa 4k max VRR at 240Hz for games. Of course, all Samsung TVs for 2024 will support the Gaming Hub platform with a new feature for CES including third-party controllers certified by the company.
Samsung has also restored QLED 4K with QN90D and QN85D models and mini-LED backlight. They feature an updated Neural Quantum processor that includes an improved 4K upscaling technology called (4K Upscaling Plus)better image quality with Real Depth Enhancer Pro and the called function Active Voice Amplifier Pro which increases the clarity of dialogue and sound effects in movies.
4K QLED TVs also have an AI adaptation mode that allows the TV to detect the type of content you are watching and automatically optimize the picture quality for the best viewing experience. The QN90D series will be available in screen sizes from 43 to 98 inches, while the QN85D series will start at 55 inches and grow to 85 inches in the top model.
More news comes from 4K OLED. Panels with light-emitting diodes, the line of which Samsung keeps even in the new S90D and S95D models. Both lines of OLED TVs will be offered in screen sizes from 55 to 77 inches. The improvements here are not as significant as with the QLED series and it is clear that a user looking for this type of screen can focus more on those from other brands such as LG, whose commitment is total.
Samsung introduced a new screen that uses Transparent LED to project contentwho promise to do “the line between content and reality is practically indistinguishable”. The company notes that the technology works with a glass screen “Extremely small MICRO LED chip and precise manufacturing process that eliminates seams and light refraction”.
Samsung promises the best visual quality in all scenarios, both for home and professional needs. LG also introduced this type of screen at CES, so it is certain that we will see them as commercial products in the future.
