Lenovo offers new computers tailored to SMBs. The laptop portfolio is being refreshed, but a compact desktop is also included.

Lenovo is introducing several new ThinkBook laptops at CES 2024. This range of devices is aimed at SMEs. First and foremost is the ThinkBook 13x Gen 4. This notebook has a 13.5-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 3:2, 2.8K resolution (120 Hz) and small bezels. Lenovo points to the laptop’s 100% sRGB color coverage, which should make the device suitable for graphics professionals. Mobility is the focus of this device, which weighs just 1kg in its lightest configuration.

The ThinkBook 14 i Gen 6+ is a 14.5-inch laptop aimed at a more mainstream audience. This device can be configured with different screen resolutions up to 3K (120 Hz). Lenovo is not yet sharing details such as weight.

The laptop differs from other devices with its TGX port. This is a connection from Lenovo itself. TGX stands for ThinkBook graphics extensionand allows the connection of an external graphics card (even a new one). This allows you to combine the power of your laptop with that of a desktop GPU at your desk. It is unclear why Lenovo does not use USB Type-C/Thunderbolt for this solution, as manufacturers traditionally do with external graphics cards.

Both laptops are available with the latest Intel Core Ultra processors and up to 32GB of RAM. You can configure storage up to a 2TB PCIe SSD. The ThinkBook 13x will be available from March at a starting price of 1,199 euros (plus VAT). The ThinkBook 14 i with GPU dock is not coming to Europe yet.

Bigger laptop

Lenovo is also introducing a ThinkBook 16p Gen 5. This is a larger laptop that looks more like a mobile workstation. The device features a 16-inch 3.2K 16:10 screen, calibrated for DCI-P3 and sRGB. Inside is an Intel Core i9 processor: a powerful chip from the previous Core generation and therefore not a Core Ultra CPU. You can also configure the laptop with up to 64GB of LPDDR5x memory and two SSDs with a maximum total capacity of 4TB. There is space for a graphics card in the form of an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4060. Of course, all the hardware weighs a bit: the rigid weight of this new device is 2.2 kg.

Lenovo equips the laptop with its own “AI” chip, because apparently every chip has to bear the AI ​​stamp these days. This LA3 chip optimizes some features such as battery and screen brightness and helps with background blur and noise cancellation during video calls. Lenovo doesn’t yet know how many cents it wants in exchange for the ThinkNook 16p Gen 5, but will decide before the device goes on sale in June this year.

Desktops

Lenovo is also launching a new compact desktop called ThinkCentre Neo Ultra. With this device, the manufacturer also has medium-sized companies in mind. You can configure the desktop with an Intel Core i9 chip, up to 64GB of DDR5 memory and a storage capacity of 4TB.

There is also space for a graphics card in the form of an RTX 4060 from Nvidia. The box measures a modest 19.5cm x 19.5cm x 10.7cm.

Finally, the ThinkCentre Neo 50a 27 Gen 5 and 24 Gen 5 are two similar all-in-one devices with a 27-inch and 23.8-inch screen, respectively, each with FHD resolution.

The devices have an Intel Core i processor on board, configurable up to a maximum of Intel Core i7. You can equip it with up to 32 GB of RAM. Lenovo still needs to make the necessary decisions regarding the pricing and availability of these devices.
