That’s because regulators around the world have begun demanding the social networking giant protect children from harmful content, Ukrinform reported, citing Reuters.
Meta said teens around the world will now have the strictest content control settings on apps and some social media searches will be restricted.
The move will make it harder for teens to encounter sensitive content like suicide, self-harm and eating disorders when they try to search Instagram via Search or Explore.
The company plans to implement these changes in the coming weeks to make the content more “age appropriate.”
As Ukrinform reported, in December the European Commission requested the company Meta to provide more detailed information about measures to combat material related to sexual violence against children on Instagram, otherwise it risks becoming the subject of an official investigation.
