As part of the NASA project, the Lviv IT company SoftServe, together with American colleagues, will develop technologies for the construction of takeoff and landing sites on the Moon.
According to Ukrinform’s report, SoftServe reported this on Facebook.
“It’s really just space! After all, we will develop construction technology on the moon together with the American company Astroport Space Technologies within the framework of NASA’s project.” expressions are included.
It is stated that this is a solution for the construction of airstrips in harsh conditions, which will help ensure the landing on the moon. SoftServe’s Robotics and Advanced Automation team will participate in the work on the project.
“We will create models for the environment of mechanical interaction between equipment, construction machines and lunar soil, regolith. Our work will involve the creation of numerous digital simulations of the construction process on the Moon, taking into account the properties of the soil and various situations,” said Lyubomir Demkiv, head of the SoftServe robotics department.
The project started after the American company Astroport Space Technologies won a grant of $1.3 million within the scope of NASA STTR 2023 Phase II. This is an annual funding program that brings together businesses, startups, and scientific institutions to solve specific cases and problems involving NASA research. Technological solutions and program results have the opportunity to be implemented by agency researchers or commercialized at later stages.
SoftServe is the largest global IT company of Ukrainian origin, working in the field of software development and consulting services. More than 12,000 employees work in more than 50 offices from San Francisco to Singapore. The main offices of the company are located in Lviv and Austin (USA).
Last year, a team of engineers from Lviv IT company SoftServe won the competition at the annual NATO hackathon, Ukrinform reported. Engineers from Lviv analyzed in detail the advantages and disadvantages of NATO’s multinational CWIX exercises, which check how the IT systems of the allies will interact in combat conditions. Established performance metrics, further developed recommendations to improve CWIX performance, and proposed solutions to quickly identify and address gaps hindering training success.
