Tests of unmanned police patrol electric vehicles designed to ensure the safety of mass events, announce alerts about emergency events and conduct emergency rescue operations have begun in Beijing.

This was reported by CGTN, according to the report of Ukrinform.

Beijing Municipal Public Security Bureau. This group of unmanned vehicles will patrol the 60 square kilometer demonstration area.

According to Neolix, the developer of the devices, electric unmanned patrol vehicles have level 4 autonomous driving technology, a range of 100 km and the ability to change batteries in 30 seconds.

Vehicles are equipped with devices and sensors that can observe the surrounding environment and traffic in a circular (360°) manner and detect vehicles, objects, people and their behavior from a distance of up to 120 meters.

The data received by external sensors is instantly processed by the information processing platform in the vehicle and transmitted to the control system that controls the electric car, ensuring driving safety.

Since Beijing launched the autonomous driving demonstration area in September 2020, 160 square kilometers of area equipped with smart roads and smart city network systems have been built.

A total of 28 companies testing unmanned vehicles are working in the show area. Currently, more than 800 such vehicles with a cumulative mileage exceeding 20 million kilometers are participating in tests and commercial studies.
