Security specialist Fortinet is bringing new access points with associated switches onto the market. WiFi 7 and 10 GbE are the main features of this new hardware for secure connectivity.
Fortinet introduces the FortiAP 441K. This is a new access point that supports the newly introduced WiFi 7 standard. The company is also launching the FortiSwitch T1024. This is intended to simplify the rollout of the access points.
The access point is based on the Qualcomm Networking Pro 1220 platform. The FortiApp 441K supports 4096 QAM modulation and 320 MHz channels. Support for Wifi 7 requires the presence of the 6 GHz frequency band in addition to 2.5 GHz and 5 GHz. Lower latency and higher throughput are the main advantages of the technology standard and therefore also the FortiApp 441K.
Associated switch
The FortiSwitch T1024 supports the FortiAP 441K. WiFi 7 has significantly higher throughput speeds and the backend also has to cope with this. Therefore, the switch offers 10GbE connectivity. The device also offers Power over Ethernet (PoE) with an output of 90 watts. This is intended to make connecting the access points easier.
Like all Fortinet components, this new hardware is part of the Fortinet Security Fabric: an overarching security platform in which all components work together to detect and stop threats.
