The funds will be used to expand the capabilities of two data centers in the country, located in Tokyo and Osaka.
The new investment plan in Japan includes the addition of Amazon Web Services to the 1.51 trillion yen investment in Japan in the 2011-2022 period.
The move is said to increase the use of generative AI among Japanese companies following the rapid popularity of ChatGPT, an AI chatbot developed by American company OpenAI.
Among Japan’s technology companies, NEC Corp. While it released a productive AI platform for enterprise customers last July, Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corp. In March, it announced that it would launch a productive AI platform for business.
Amazon also introduced Amazon Q, an AI service for enterprise customers that can summarize text and offer business recommendations using its internal data.
