OpneAI CEO Sam Altman, who is working to raise billions of dollars from global investors to produce chips, plans to use the funds to build a network of semiconductor factories.

This was reported by Bloomberg with reference to knowledgeable sources, as reported by Ukrinform.

Altman was in talks with several large potential investors to raise the large sums needed for the chip factories. Companies participating in the talks include Abu Dhabi-based G42 Group, which specializes in artificial intelligence development, and Japanese telecommunications holding company SoftBank Group Corp. It is located.

According to sources, the project will involve collaboration with leading microcircuit manufacturers and the factory network will be global.

“Although Bloomberg has previously reported on (Altman’s) attempts to raise funds for the production of microcircuits, the scale of the project and focus on production were not previously known,” the article says.

The report stated that discussions between the OpenAI CEO and investors are at an early stage and the full list of interested partners is not known at this time.

American semiconductor manufacturer Nvidia is reportedly preparing to start mass production of China-specific artificial intelligence chips in the second quarter of 2024.
