Apple developers plan to add a mechanical button (Capture) to control the camera in the new iPhone 16 phone model.

This was reported by PhoneArena, as reported by Ukrinform.

The new button is said to include zoom and focus controls for the device’s camera.

Sources familiar with the development of the iPhone 16 believe that the Capture button will not just be a standard mechanical button; It will also be sensitive to touch. Users will be able to swipe to adjust the zoom and focus the shot.

The Capture button on the iPhone 16 will have several additional functions. A light press focuses the camera, while a firm press lets you take a photo or start recording a video.

You can also rotate the knob left or right to zoom in or out.

While many smartphones now let you adjust zoom using the volume keys, Apple’s approach means your finger won’t have to leave the Capture button, offering a potentially more useful option.

This means a different mechanical design than previous designs, as the button will be pressable, implying a capacitive button with tactile control. Unlike capacitive buttons, which detect touch through an electrical charge, mechanical buttons require physical pressure to activate their function.

The source states that this new button (Capture) is currently being tested on standard iPhone models, namely Plus and Pro.

As Ukrinform reports, the American company Apple wants to expand iPhone production in India in the next two to three years, so that almost a quarter of all iPhones are produced there every year.
