The United States and South Korea conducted their first cybersecurity exercises aimed at strengthening their joint capabilities against North Korea’s cyber threats.

The exercise, called “Cyber Alliance”, was held between January 15-26 at the South Korean Armed Forces Cyber Operations Command.
The training focused on training experts in the two countries’ cyber agencies to exchange information about hacking attempts and implement protocols to respond to such malicious actions.
South Korea’s defense ministry said the two countries will continue to expand cybersecurity training and technology sharing to strengthen cyber cooperation against North Korea’s criminal cyber activities.
Seoul and Washington continue to explore ways to prevent cryptocurrency theft by Pyongyang’s hacking groups and other illegal cyber activities aimed at financing North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs.
