Philips launches the huge 49B2U6900CH monitor

The large 49-inch screen of the Philips 49B2U6900CH offers plenty of work space with 5,120 x 1,440 pixels and has a smart, high-resolution webcam.

Why buy two monitors and put them next to each other when you can fit everything in one 49-inch monitor? The Philips 490B2U6900CH has the working area of two 16:9 WQHD monitors side by side. The wide 32:9 screen has a resolution of 5,140 x 1,440 pixels and a subtle curvature to ensure a good view of the IPS screen from every corner of the eye.

The panel is DisplayHDR 400 certified (maximum 450 nits) and should emit less blue light than standard.

The Philips 490B2U6900CH has a KVM switch on board. By briefly pressing the CTRL key on your keyboard three times, you can switch between three systems. There is also a USB-C port, for example to connect a laptop or other peripheral devices. The monitor has two speakers on board (2 x 5 watts).

The full connectivity available for video: 2x HDMI (v2.0), 1x DisplayPort (v1.4) and 2x USB-C (PD up to 100 watts). As for USB connectivity, you have 3x USB-C and 4x USB-A available, all USB 3.2 Gen 2 compatible with up to 10 Gbit/s. You will also find a jack connection and 1x RJ45 (2.5 GbE). For those who wish, there is a hook on the left for hanging a headset.

For video calls, you can use the built-in webcam, which you can tilt forward or backward 30 degrees to appear clearly on the screen. The 5-megapixel webcam centers you when you move within its range and supports Windows Hello via facial recognition.

Cool extra: There is a small light on the top of the webcam that Philips calls “Busylight”. When you are in a conversation it turns red. This means your colleagues can immediately see when they can or cannot disturb you. The foot is height adjustable and tiltable. If you want to use your own monitor arm, you can attach it using the VESA 100 adapter.

The Philips 49B2U6900CH will be available from February and has a recommended retail price of 1,249 euros including VAT.
