It seems that Fossil’s situation in the smartwatch market is not the best It is something that can be seen with the naked eye.and that in the past it has released some truly remarkable models like the Gen 6, with which it even did a collaboration with Razer that gave birth to the Razer X Fossil Gen 6 that we talked about back then, about two years ago. , because it seemed like a very interesting proposition to us.

Something that made their device design particularly personal because apart from the 100% digital models They also offered some hybrid models, in which the classic analog clock hands system was combined with an e-ink screen underneath. However, this formula is not exclusive to Fossil as we have also seen it used by other manufacturers, especially those dedicated to classic watchmaking.

I said at the beginning that it is evident that the commitment to this market is not going through the best moment, so this announcement is sad but not surprising. And as we can read in The Verge, Fossil has confirmed its exit from the smartwatch marketin the officialization of something that was already taking place de facto at the distribution level, where it seems that the stock of their equipment has not arrived for some time.

So if we visit the brand’s website at this point and enter the smartwatch section, we will see that the devices will no longer be displayed, and that the only thing that fills this section are several silicone bands in different colors (seven at the time of this news release). However, Fossil has confirmed that despite its exit from the market, it will continue to offer technical support to all users of its smartwatches, although it remains to be seen whether this will translate into updates.

As we already told you, Fossil was the first manufacturer to launch a Wear OS 3 watchand has been technologically at the forefront of this ecosystem for some time. However, the predominance of models from other manufacturers (Apple, Samsung and recently Google) made it impossible for it to remain active in it, to the extent that its latest, already mentioned, Gen 6 launch, has been over two years already.
