Apple’s latest A17 Pro chip outperforms the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. Apple is currently working on the A18 Pro chip and some people have leaked the Geekbench 6 results. Performance benchmarks show a significant improvement in single-core performance over the previous generation A17 Pro.

It is said that Apple will use the A18 SOC in all models of the iPhone 16 series. This is very good news for users who are considering buying an iPhone 16. The iPhone 15, introduced last year, uses the previous generation Apple A16 Bionic. Same SOC as iPhone 14 Pro Max. Some people did not prefer the iPhone 15 and 14 models due to the lack of upgrades in the processor department. Now, the Geekbench 6 result of the new A18 Pro gives some information about the new generation iPhone.

Apple A18 Pro Geekbench 6 score

Apple A18 Pro scored 3,500 on the single-core processor and 8,200 on the multi-core processor, with better single-core performance compared to the previous generation A17 Pro. For reference, the A17 Pro scored only 2906 in single-core and 7231 in multi-core. Geekbench results for the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 were recently leaked, and they show much better multi-core performance than Apple’s A18 Pro.

Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 received 2,985 points in single-core and 10,762 points in multi-core in the announced Geekbench 6 results; This is pretty close to Apple’s M3 chip. We will start seeing Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 supported devices in the 4th quarter of this year. In particular, the long-awaited Apple A18 Pro and Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 comparison will show which chip will win in 2025.
