MSI The Claw is a new portable console that the Taiwanese manufacturer introduced at CES in Las Vegas to further support a market segment that was dying after the explosion of sales of versatile smartphones, but which has been remarkably revived and is now experiencing a second youth.

The range of handheld gaming machines is plentiful today, and two of the top three video game giants are yet to enter, Microsoft with portable Xbox and Sony (back) with something similar to the expected PS Vita 2. Not to mention the Nintendo Switch 2 arriving in the same year, Valve’s Steam Deck (definitely a big game changer that sells like hot cakes) and models coming in a large number of Chinese specialists such as Aya .

MSI The Claw joins the “party” with a general concept, design and aim that is in line with what other PC giants have created, see ASUS with the ROG Ally. Of course, MSI’s machine has its own advantages to showcase, highlighting its main engine based on latest Intel processorsMeteor lake.

We have already talked to you extensively about its features in its official presentation and all of them are confirmed with more details. MSI has confirmed that the screen has support for variable frequency (VRR) with refresh rates that will range from 48 Hz to 120 Hz to dynamically match the frame rate of the system’s supplied GPU, in this case an integrated Intel Arc with 7 or 8 Xe cores depending on the processor installed.

One detail we will need to confirm is the LPDDR5 memory frequency. A frequency of 6,400 MHz was announced at CES, but we see 4,800 MHz in the official listing. In the rest, everything was confirmed and it is “passionate” in the specifications.

The MSI Store lists the versions and prices for the launch, which should happen shortly, p Estimated availability from February to March. The console will ship with Windows 11 Home pre-installed and initially in three configurations:

  • Claw A1M-050: Intel Core Ultra 5-135H CPU with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for storage 699 dollars.
  • Claw A1M-051: Intel Core Ultra 5-155H CPU with 16GB RAM and 512GB SSD for storage 749 dollars.
  • Claw A1M-052: Intel Core Ultra 5-155H CPU with 16GB RAM and 1TB SSD for storage 799 dollars.

Finally, note that MSI The Claw will not be a “flower of the day” and the company has announced a program to release new versions every two years.
