Windows 10 users are experiencing an error in several apps after the Microsoft Store update. Incompatible hardware seems to be to blame.
Most Windows 10 apps are automatically updated in the Microsoft Store. This happens regardless of OS updates, so these apps get an upgrade without having to wait for a new OS update. After a recent Microsoft Store update, users noticed issues with apps like Calendar, Photos, and Calculator. It was not possible to report this error in the Feedback Hub because this app was also affected. The Evil? Incompatible hardware.
The update was not an official Windows update, so there was no response from Microsoft. Some users have done their own research to find out the cause of this. The common thread in all reports seemed to be the old hardware, such as the Intel Core 2 Duo and Quad processors and AMD Athlon chips. These components are not officially compatible with Windows 10, but initially did not appear to have any problems when running the operating system on this hardware. Due to Microsoft’s automatic updates, the errors are now coming to light.
Not only is this a problem for Windows 10 users, it also doesn’t bode well for Windows 11 fans if they’re using unsupported hardware. Users have reported this error and are currently waiting for a response from Microsoft.
A man forewarned is worth two. Windows 11 fans who want to run the operating system on incompatible hardware now know what to expect. Microsoft has not yet responded.
