US bombings in Syria and Iraq kill nearly 40 people

At least 23 people died in American bombings eastern Syriaamong them are nine “Syrian militants,” according to Observatorya UK non-governmental organization with an extensive network of local staff.

The official death toll in Syria has not yet been made public. The country’s Defense Ministry said the explosions resulted in “a number of civilian and soldier deaths” and “significant damage to public and private property,” without elaborating.

From my side, Iraqi government reported that at least 16 peopleincluding civilians, have dead in the west of the country as a result of these first air strikes by Washington in retaliation for the death of three of its soldiers in Jordan, which Washington attributes to pro-Iranian militias in Iraq.

Washington announced the bombing of more than 85 targets and facilities associated with the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Syria and Iraq.”the beginning of his response to the attack on his troops in Jordan and this was regarded by both countries as a violation of their sovereignty.

In Syria, airstrikes were concentrated in the Al-Mayadeen area, considered the country’s “Iranian capital”, as well as in Deir ez-Zour and the Al-Bukamal area, which border Iraq and are an important supply route for Iran. pro-Iranian militias allied with the Syrian government.
