Cisco introduces Identity Intelligence. This is a solution that works with existing identity solutions to prevent account misuse.
Cisco Identity Intelligence must prevent misuse of account information. Cisco is launching the solution as an additional layer of security between classic identity tools and the rest of the IT environment. According to Cisco, there is still too often absolute trust between identity solutions and the underlying solutions: anyone who can prove their identity is granted unconditional access.
According to the company, this needs to change as this approach opens the door for hackers to gain access to account information. Let this be a popular vector for criminals to infiltrate into organizations.
Cisco Identity Intelligence verifies how approved identities effectively use their access. Based on AI, the tool can view behavior and raise an alarm if a correctly logged in account shows suspicious behavior. The tool also provides visibility into legacy access that may not have been removed yet. Cisco Identity Intelligence can block risky behavior, expose vulnerable accounts, expose unused privileges, and flag suspicious behavior without replacing existing solutions.
The tool works with identity solutions and is available in preview in Duo Advantage and Premier. The solution’s intelligence is also used in Cisco’s XDR solution. In addition, the solution works with Cisco Secure Access. The tool’s functionality is consistent with today’s view of security, where user identity and access must be constantly questioned in a zero trust context. Anyone who has the correct credentials but suddenly logs in from Russia and starts downloading network folders may not be a legitimate user.
