Austrian startup FlyNow Aviation is developing the eCopter, an electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) air taxi.
As reported by Ukrinform, New Atlas reported this.
FlyNow Aviation plans to offer single- and two-seat versions of the air taxi to customers, and a cargo model will also be created.
According to the company’s estimates, all three versions of the eCopter should have a flight range of up to 50 km, a cruising speed of 130 km per hour and a maximum payload capacity of 200 kg.
It is noted that the air taxi is equipped with two propellers rotating in opposite directions (one above the other).
This design allows the European Union Aviation Safety Agency to classify it as an “electric helicopter”.
FlyNow CEO Jürgen Greil said that commercial production of the eCopter is planned to start in 2026.
At the same time, since it will be easier to license, the cargo model will be produced first, and then the production of passenger versions will begin.
As reported by Ukrinform, California-based startup Overair has presented Butterfly, a prototype electric air taxi with vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL).
