How does it work

The new service was launched by financial platform Neon Money Club. It’s only available in the US and you’ll need a credit score of at least 675 to use it.

Score is a dating app for people with good to excellent credit that is “designed to help raise awareness about the importance of finance in relationships.”

We need to move the conversation into areas where finance has not traditionally been discussed. Before you teach people something, you have to get their attention. With Score, we take the conversation to the level of acquaintance,
– says Luke Bailey, co-founder and CEO of Neon Money Club.

Traditional methods of increasing financial awareness are outdated, he says. Talking about money is often uncomfortable, but the truth is that for many people, finances can be an important part of a relationship. According to the source, one of the main causes of divorce in the United States today is financial problems.

The idea for the app emerged at last year’s AfroTech conference. The company was looking for a way to overcome the credit health problem and organized a party for it. Hundreds of people later filled the streets of downtown Austin. As people lined up, Bailey and his team began brainstorming what they could ask of these visitors to make them feel comfortable talking about finances.

We decided to ask a question: “What should be the minimum credit score of the person you’re dating?” This question later turned into Score,

The application will only be valid for a limited time (approximately 90 days). Potential users must apply to gain access. After registration, Neon Money Club will perform a “soft credit check” on users, which will not affect their credit reports, and scores will not be displayed in the app. If approved, users will have access to “financial peers” in the app.

People won’t be matched based on the same credit scores, so a person with a 700 score might meet someone with an 800 score. Then everything is normal: swipe left or right.
