Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva said on Thursday that multilateral institutions are failing in resolving international conflicts and criticized Israel for the war in the Gaza Strip.
“Israel’s behavior has no explanation: under the pretext of fighting Hamas, it is killing women and children,” the president said after a meeting with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi.

Lula declared that there would be no peace without the creation of a Palestinian state and called for immediate ceasefire allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.
Lula also stated that Brazil will make a new donation to the United Nations Palestine Refugee Agency (UNRWA) at a time when several countries, such as the United States, have decided to cut funding to the organization.

“The Brazilian government will make a new contribution to UNRWA. “We encourage all countries to maintain and increase their contributions.”
Lula rated as “inhuman and cowardly” suspension of rich countries’ contributions to the agency, announced after Israel accused it of harboring Hamas militants. “The recent allegations against agency officials must be properly investigated, but they cannot paralyze the agency,” he said.
