The Pentagon deemed it appropriate to use SpaceX company’s heavy transport system Starship to deliver military cargo to any point in the world. Currently, the department is exploring the possibilities of creating a new launch complex.
The Space Force, in collaboration with NASA, the Federal Aviation Administration and the U.S. Coast Guard, is evaluating several options for the new Starship launch complex.
The first is a move to Space Launch Complex SLC 37 in Florida after the United Launch Alliance Delta IV Heavy rocket makes its final launch next summer.
The second option is to build a new launch pad called “Space Launch Complex – 50”, which will be located between SLC 40 and SLC 37 in an undeveloped area.
This process can take years because it requires environmental review. So SpaceX is currently preparing for its third Starship test flight from its Starbase in the Boca Chica community of Texas.
