Github launches Copilot Enterprise, the successor to Copilot Business but with some new features. This enhanced version is based on your company’s code base and integrates the Bing search engine in beta.

GitHub announces an advanced version of its AI-powered coding assistant: Copilot Enterprise. This new version can be adapted to a company’s processes, making developers’ work more efficient. The tool has access to both an organization’s code and associated documentation and can answer questions based on them.

Copilot Enterprise has all the features of the existing business plan, but adds three more core features. In addition, the Bing search engine will be integrated directly into Copilot Enterprise (in beta phase). This is useful for questions about things that may have changed since the AI model was trained. The subscription costs $39 per user per month and is available now.

Three new core features

Earlier this year, Github made Copilot Chat generally available. Now the company is announcing a new expanded version of Copilot Enterprise based on the current business plan. GitHub describes Copilot Enterprise as “a companion that puts your organization’s institutional knowledge at your developers’ fingertips.” This new expanded version includes three core features.

  • Greater visibility into your organization’s unique codebase: The new version streamlines code navigation and understanding for developers for faster feature delivery, bug fixes, and code modernization.
  • Quick access to organization-specific knowledge: Chat is integrated into GitHub.com so developers can ask questions efficiently and the answers are based on the company’s specific code base and documentation. This allows Copilot to provide suggestions based on relevant company documentation and standards.
  • Review pull requests faster: Generated pull request summaries help developers work more efficiently. Copilot Enterprise can analyze pull request differences so developers can spend more time providing valuable feedback.

According to GitHub, “Team members can ask questions about public and private code, quickly get started with new codebases, build more consistency across development teams, and ensure everyone has access to the same standards and work previously done.”

Integrated Bing search engine

To not only gain insights from your own internal knowledge bases, but also get the latest information from the Internet, Bing Search is integrated with Copilot Chat, which is available in beta for GitHub Copilot Enterprise.

GitHub Copilot Enterprise has the same license and policy management features as Copilot Business and requires that your company already uses GitHub Enterprise Cloud. The Copilot Enterprise is available at a price of $39 per user per month.
