The company General Atomics Aeronautical Systems demonstrated a prototype of the XQ-67A drone, which will conduct reconnaissance and participate in attack operations.
Little is known about this drone at the moment, as experts say the XQ-67A drone was created as part of a secret program called OBSS (Off-Board Sensing Station). The program’s mission is to develop a drone with a large set of sensors that can fly ahead of manned fighters and transmit information about the enemy’s location and capabilities.
The XQ-67A is remotely controlled, unlike other drones designed for autonomous or semi-autonomous operation. Size, shape and technical characteristics of the flight are not specified on the manufacturer’s portal. However, according to a video published by General Atomics, the drone was designed with stealth technology and has a V-shaped tail.
Experts concluded that the design of this drone was based on the Gambit family of unmanned aerial vehicles, which General Atomics also developed for another program of the US Air Force called Cooperative Combat Aircraft (CCA), which provides a fleet of drones capable of acting as missiles. carriers, scouts, electronic warfare platforms or decoys for enemy air defenses.
“Without going into details, I can say that we regularly follow the OBSS program and work closely with our government partners to achieve all project indicators and deliver on our promises. “We are focused on speed to market, accelerating design processes and delivering real-world combat capabilities for the new drone,” said Mark Brinkley, senior director of communications and marketing for General Atomics Aeronautical Systems.
