Adobe is working on a new AI-powered audio editing tool Project Music GenAI Control that will allow users to easily create and edit audio.

Earlier this year, Adobe added new AI-powered audio editing tools to Premiere Pro, but now the company is taking it a step further with the brand new generative AI tool Project Music GenAI Control. Allows users to generate and edit audio based on text prompts. Since the tool is a new prototype and is still in the experimental phase, it may take some time before it is generally available. At some point this editing tool will be added to Audition or Premiere Pro.

No experience needed

Project Music GenAI Control was announced as a prototype during the Hot Pod Summit in Brooklyn. This new AI experiment from Adobe allows users to create and customize music without the need for professional audio experience. What the user interface will look like is not yet known.

Users can access specific music genres via text prompts and then edit them as desired using a comprehensive set of built-in editing tool buttons to adjust any pattern, tempo, intensity or structure. According to Adobe, the content of this public domain tool was uploaded for the public Project Music GenAI Control demo. It is not yet clear whether users will be able to upload audio themselves.

Early date

The new audio editing tool is still in an initial experimental phase. So it will be a while before this tool is added to Adobe Audition or Premiere Pro. The experiment is being developed in collaboration with the University of California and the School of Computer Science at Carnegie Mellon University.
