Two DeepMind graduates have launched a new video generation tool Haiper, based on a proprietary AI model.

OpenAI’s latest AI video generation tool, Sora, is getting a worthy competitor. Yishu Miao and Ziyu Wang, two DeepMind graduates, recently announced their video generation tool Haiper with its own AI model and made it generally available. Users can access the tool for free, which can create videos based on text prompts. The goal is to keep this website free to create a community.

Users can use Haiper’s website for free to create videos based on text prompts. You can also animate images or redraw videos in a different style. Currently, the focus is on this consumer-facing website, but ultimately the founders are focused on building a core video generation model that can be offered to others.

Location: Haiper

The current consumer site Haiper has some limitations. The video generation tool can generate just two seconds of HD videos or a maximum of four seconds of slightly lower quality video. The company is working on options to extend video duration. The gentlemen are currently trying to keep the tool free in order to create a community.

The announcement of this new Haiper tool means more competition in the world of video generation. OpenAI launched Sora last month, Google and Meta have their own models, but Stability AI also recently launched Stable Diffusion 3.
