Minister of Finance from the United States, Janet Yellensaid on Thursday that the inaction of Congress in approving new US aid packages to Ukraine is “a little less than a gift” for the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin, Iran and other adversaries as Ukrainian forces run out of ammunition to fight the Russian invasion.

In statements at the beginning of the bilateral meeting with German Minister of EconomicsRobert Habeck in Washington Yellen again called on House Speaker Mike Johnson to quickly approve a package of military and economic aid to Ukraine $61 billion.

Members of Congress will gather at the U.S. Capitol on Thursday evening for the annual presidential address. Joe Biden about him State of the Union.

“As the House remains deadlocked, Russia is gaining ground and Ukraine is forced to ration ammunition and supplies,” Yellen said.

“The House must act and show the strength of Ukraine’s support for Ukraine in the face of Putin’s aggression. Congressional inaction is nothing less than a gift. Putin, Iran and other adversaries who oppose the United States and its allies.”

Iran supplied Russia with missiles, drones and other weapons systems.

Yellen also said budget support for Ukraine would depend on additional reforms on top of already “robust” transparency and oversight.
