Hugging Face is starting a project around robotics. Machine learning and AI will also remain an important approach in this project.

Hugging Face expands its focus to include robotics. The French company has made a name for itself as a kind of GitHub for open source AI and ML models. Now Hugging Face wants to expand its activities into the world of robotics. For this purpose, the company recruited Remi Cadene, who had made a name for himself as a researcher at Tesla.

It’s not yet clear what exactly Hugging Face wants to achieve. The company is looking for additional talent to build real robots in Paris. AI and ML are both closely linked to robotics. This includes not only AI-controlled computer vision, but also the control of robots. Self-learning algorithms are able to figure out how the control of a robot arm, for example, works and what is necessary to grasp objects with a robot hand.

Other intelligent systems also have a robotics aspect. In this way, AI provides contextual understanding. A robot is basically a tool that allows AI to interact with the real world. Something called something like that embodied AIand isn’t that far removed from Hugging Face’s focus today.
