Lithuanian students participating in robot competitions in Italy refused to compete in the same group with Russians.
This was reported by Lithuanian broadcaster LRT, as reported by Ukrinform.
It is stated that international robotics competitions are held in Italy. The strongest teams from Europe are fighting for the opportunity to go to the world competition (similar to the Olympics in robotics) in Houston, America.
When the Lithuanian teams learned that Russian teams would participate in the championship, letters were written to the organizers asking that the Russians not be allowed to participate. But this suggestion was rejected. Then the Lithuanian participants asked not to include themselves in joint teams with the Russians. Promised but not fulfilled.
For this reason, the Lithuanian teams, which were in the same group with the Russians, refused to participate in virtual battles, although they were among the leaders at that time. Lithuanians raised only the flags of Lithuania and Ukraine and kept them all the time throughout the match without their participation.
For this reason, Lithuania’s “Litbot” and “Lituanica X” teams were disqualified. The “Lituanica – Vilnius Lyceum robotics” team, which did not have to compete in the same group with the Russians, won a ticket to Houston.
Not only public figures, but also representatives of the Lithuanian authorities expressed their admiration and pride for such an action of schoolchildren: Prime Minister Ingrid Å imonite, Minister of Social Protection and Labor Monika Navitskene.
“Children of March 11 (the day of the restoration of independence of Lithuania in 1990, – ed.). They considered their personal achievements to be less important than the honor and dignity of a person,” Shimonite wrote.
According to Ukrinform, Lithuania will continue to assist the Kiev region in the reconstruction of educational institutions destroyed by Russian invaders. Especially Borodyan High School No. More than 1 million euros were allocated for the repair of 6.
