Apple produces the 6.1-inch iPhone 15 in Brazil

Although most of Apple’s devices are still manufactured in China, the company has assembly facilities around the world. One such site is located in Brazil, where, according to network sources, basic versions of the iPhone 15 are currently assembled. This is the Foxconn Brazilian factory located in São Paulo.

Apple has not officially confirmed that it has started production of the iPhone 15 in Brazil, but data showing this can be found on the company’s online store in the country. When purchasing a smartphone, the BR/A ID is displayed, indicating that the device is manufactured in the country. At the same time, many products carry the BE/A and BZ/A markings, indicating that they are imported into the country.

Interestingly, Apple only produces the base iPhone 15 in Brazil, while the more expensive iPhone 15 Plus and both 15 Pro models are still imported from China. This is probably because the entry-level model is the most popular model in the country and also because the local government has increased the tax on imported products.

It is worth noting that the launch of domestic production has helped reduce the prices of the base iPhone 15 model with 128 GB storage. At launch, the base iPhone 15 was priced at around $1,460 in Brazil, now down to $1,080 at some retail stores in the country. Additionally, having an assembly plant in Brazil reduces Apple’s dependence on China and helps sell more iPhones. Apple is also expanding production capacity in India and Vietnam.
