A bill that could lead to the sale or outright ban of TikTok has passed the House of Representatives just days after it was first introduced there. It was approved by a vote of 352 to 65, a rare display of bipartisan support. Now it’s up to the Senate.

If the law is passed, ByteDance’s parent company will receive Six-month window to sell TikTok or you will face a ban from US app stores and web hosting. For example, Senator Rand Paul said he would block the bill. Some other MPs are also hesitant to support him publicly. Some politicians appear to have been influenced by former President Donald Trump, who once tried to force ByteDance to sell TikTok but has now suddenly changed his mind and now opposes it, which does not appear to be his new sincere attitude, but appears to be an attempt to force ByteDance to sell TikTok. TikTok says the bill is unconstitutional “It will deprive 170 million Americans of their constitutional right to freedom of expression.” and will harm the authors and companies who rely on the service.

Last week, the company sent out a series of push notifications to users asking them to contact their representatives in the Senate to oppose the bill.. Congressional staffers said offices were inundated with calls, many from distraught young people. Lawmakers later accused the company of trying to “interfere” in the legislative process.

If the bill receives enough votes to pass the Senate, President Joe Biden says he will sign.
