It was noted that the malfunction affected the ordering process in restaurants using the McDrive system and online.

A McDonald’s international spokesman said the company was working to resolve the issue.

“We are aware of a technological malfunction affecting the operation of our restaurants; the issue is currently being resolved,” he said, noting that the issue was not related to a cyber attack.

A spokesperson for the chain in Great Britain said the disruption to the operation of its restaurants in the United Kingdom and Ireland had been “corrected.”

A “system failure” at McDonald’s was also confirmed in Japan, where the chain has approximately 3,000 restaurants. There, the system did not accept both individual and online customer orders.

According to a representative of McDonald’s in Australia, the failure affected all of the chain’s restaurants.

In China, the hashtag “McDonald’s league” was the fifth most popular search query on the Weibo social media platform.

As Ukrinform reported, on March 5, a global failure occurred in the work of social networks Facebook and Instagram, which was also observed among users in Ukraine.
