According to interlocutors, the companies are currently in active talks to allow Apple to license Gemini to integrate some new features that will appear in updated iPhone software this year.
Sources add that Apple has also recently been in talks with OpenAI and is considering using the artificial intelligence model in its products.
The parties have not yet decided on the terms or branding of the AI agreement, nor have they finalized how the agreement will be implemented.
For years, Google has reportedly paid Apple billions of dollars to make its search engine the default search engine in the Safari web browser on iPhones and other devices.
Apple is currently preparing new features based on its own artificial intelligence models in iOS 18, the next version of the iPhone operating system.
However, these updates will focus on features that run on devices rather than features provided through “cloud services.”
