Nvidia spent nearly $10 billion on research and development of its Blackwell AI chip, according to a company executive.
“We had to invent a new technology to make this possible,” Huang said.
The company’s general manager added that the cost depends not only on the chip, but also on the development of data processing centers and the integration of other companies’ data into them.
Blackwell’s predecessor, the H100 semiconductor, costs between $25,000 and $40,000.
