Administration of President Joe Biden “invisibly” allowed According to the newspaper, more bombs and fighter jets will be sent to Israel this week. Washington Post.

transfer of millions of dollars of military equipment It is being carried out despite Washington’s concerns about an expected military offensive in the south of the Gaza Strip, which could endanger the lives of hundreds of thousands of Palestinian civilians, the newspaper emphasizes.

It also comes amid recent disagreements between both governments, which led to the cancellation of a trip by Israeli advisers to Washington.

Military equipment includes more 1800 2000 lb MK84 bombs – which were associated with mass casualties throughout the conflict – and 500 500-pound MK82 bombs, according to Pentagon and State Department officials who preferred to remain anonymous because the new transfer was not public.

The newspaper also notes that MK84 bombs can level city blocks and leave craters in the ground 40 feet wide or more, and that they are almost never used by Western armies in densely populated areas because of the risk of civilian casualties.

The total death toll in the Gaza Strip as of Wednesday reached 32,490 and the number of injured at 74,889, after nearly six months of an Israeli offensive in the area that began October 7th.

Washington Post remember that Israel used these bombs extensively in Gazaaccording to various sources, especially during the explosion of a refugee camp on October 31.

Disagreements between Israel and the United States emerged this week, prompting Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to cancel a visit to Washington by two of his top advisers.

Netanyahu made this decision after the United States did not use its veto power and abstained in the UN Security Council, which for the first time approved a resolution calling for a ceasefire in the Gaza Strip.

The prime minister said the US action was a “clear departure from its consistent position in the Security Council since the start of the war” on Israel in the Gaza Strip.

The newspaper recalls that arms supplies to Israel worry even Biden’s Democratic allies, who believe that the United States is obligated to retain weapons in the absence of Israeli commitments to limit civilian casualties.

“The Biden administration needs to use its influence effectively, and in my opinion they need to get these basic commitments before they greenlight the deployment of more bombs in the Gaza Strip,” said Sen. Chris Van Hollen.

The Israeli government declined to comment on the permits.
