Singapore Police SOC Special Operations Command and tactical units of PTU Police have begun to actively use drones to prevent and carry out terrorist attacks. Drones serve as scouts by transmitting images to security forces from buildings captured by terrorists.

Drones have been used by the SOC, an elite unit of the Singapore Police Force, since 2023. However, they tested the new technology by viewing the images taken from the drone with special glasses. The headset made it easy to detect people or objects in near 4K real-time footage.

PTU is involved in law enforcement and security-related operations, including searching for armed criminals and responding to terrorist attacks.

The PTU company commander said the use of new technologies is a response to emerging threats. According to him, the use of UAVs also reduces risks for police officers.

The SOC kit includes five types of drones that can operate both inside and outside of buildings. PTU can use drones in hard-to-reach areas to help the team better assess the situation or assist in the decision-making process.
