Similarly, the Mexican government, in a complaint filed with the International Court of Justice, sought the suspension of Ecuador’s membership in the United Nations (UN) for violating the rules of its embassy in Quito.

The complaint calls for Mexico to “suspension of Ecuador’s membership in the United Nations until a public apology acknowledging violations of fundamental principles and norms of international law is made,” Foreign Minister Alicia Bárcena said.
