In a surprising development, Samsung has confirmed that some 2021 and 2022 Galaxy smartphones will receive the One UI 6.1 update along with some Galaxy AI features. This news comes after earlier rumors that these devices might lose AI features.

But there is a caveat. 2021 flagships, including the Galaxy S21 series, Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z Flip 3, will provide access to a limited number of artificial intelligence features.

These features are likely related to Google Environment Search and Chat Assist, codenamed “Magic Rewrite” in the ad. Chat Assist allows users to adjust the tone and style of messages using the Samsung keyboard.

2022 flagships, including the Galaxy S22 series, Galaxy Z Fold 4, Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Tab S8 series, will have a wider range of Galaxy AI features. With all this, they will miss out on the Instant Slow Motion feature, which allows users to slow down videos by long-pressing the screen.

According to a Korean Samsung community moderator, hardware limitations of the Exynos and Snapdragon chips used in these devices through 2023 prevent them from supporting Instant Slow Motion.
