Oppo is getting new momentum in 2023 after a difficult year. In 2022, the manufacturer launched its last flagship phone in our country: the excellent Find X5 Pro. Then the starting strategy became cloudy. While Oppo initially loudly emphasized the importance of the Find series as a showcase of its technical expertise, in Belgium we only saw mid-range phones from the Reno segment. There was never a clear explanation.

Although we could read between the lines. A patent dispute with Nokia blocked the sale of Oppo cell phones in Germany, and despite winning a legal battle in France, Oppo sales disappeared there too. With the patent case hanging over him, Oppo no longer dared to step on the accelerator. Oppo’s future in Europe seemed somewhat uncertain.

A good year for Oppo

In 2024 the cards will be shuffled completely differently. “This will be a good year for Oppo,” said Marc van den Dool, commercial director of Oppo Benelux, at the launch of the Reno11 F. “Not only because the patent dispute with Nokia has been resolved, but also because there are twenty of us.” years old worldwide. We think the resolution of the Nokia case puts a little more strain on the euphoria, but we definitely see an excited company.

“The portfolio is being expanded,” says van den Dool. The Reno11 F is the first in a series of launches. Oppo wants to release devices in all price ranges again, from the entry-level segment under 200 euros to the flagship class of 1,000 euros and more. Oppo is pretty specific in this regard. Van den Dool: “We will bring flagships back to Europe. The Find series is coming back this year.”

No Find X7, but so what?
