Regular use of WhatsApp over time can, from a certain point, translate into a bit of chaos when it comes to managing the conversations we have through this service. Of course, this is not something that can be attributed exclusively to the Meta service, it is actually something that is inherent in the nature and operation of this type of device, especially since their use for group communication of all kinds began to spread.
What may seem like an unimportant detail is not so much if at some point A backlog of conversations means we’re missing an important message, especially if it is urgent. And in that regard, I admit that I’ve been on both sides of the story at times, sometimes as the person who sent the message that gets lost in conversations and notifications, and other times as the recipient who finds out about something very late. a message that was supposed to be urgent.
To solve this problem, WhatsApp allows fpin some conversations to the top of the list, something that is very practical with important and regular contacts (a feature I started using just after “missing” a few important messages). Now, while this feature is very handy for a small number of important contacts, it loses some effectiveness if their list is larger.
Fortunately, Meta has identified this issue and is working to fix it because, as we read in WABetaInfo, WhatsApp is testing a new popular contact management system. This novelty was detected in beta version 2.24.7.18 for Android, although it is not yet active in it, so we understand that in order to identify and activate it, the people responsible for the site had to perform some additional operation to download it and the device.
With its activation, WhatsApp settings section shows new entry, favorites, from which we can access the list to manage it. What is not clear, however, is how this list will be carried over to sections of the app, mainly conversations and calls, but potentially also states. Maybe with a new entry in the section menu? With some type of highlighting in existing sections? Looks like we’ll have to wait a little longer for the review.
This feature is the first step in something I’ve been thinking about for a long time and I’ve been saying it would be extremely useful, and I mean the ability to create different groups of contacts on WhatsApp. The usefulness of a group of favorites is undeniable, but I think it would be even more practical to have several (family, friends, work, etc.), customizable of course, and allowing us to organize and quickly access each of them. .
