Although the numbers vary depending on the source, most market analyzes agree on this Apple Music is the second most used music streaming service in the world, followed by Spotity and closely followed by Tencent Music (although it’s not clear if with just QQ Music or with the addition of this plus Kugou Music and karaoke service WeSing). And yes, it’s true that Apple has managed to kind of abuse its privileges in iOS, as Spotify has been decrying for years, but there’s also no doubt that as a service it’s a more than remarkable option. Actually, I personally like it the best.
Something that Apple Music has stood out positively in the long run is in that we have an excellent “editorial” team which, coupled with systems that allow both automatic classification and the creation of lists of personalized recommendations, make the service capable of offering personalized recommendations that are in many cases (at least in my personal experience) extremely accurate. And if we’re talking about the editorial work, I think that’s very clearly reflected in all the work behind the gem that is Apple Music Classical.
Now, to take on some tasks, it is best to surround yourself with great professionals who help enrich the process and therefore the outcome. And faced with such an ambitious purpose as this, it was undoubtedly the path to choose. And as we can see on the site that is enabled for this, Apple Music has set itself the goal of selecting the 100 best albums in history. Something that is undoubtedly influenced by each person’s preferences, the impact of the works on music and other social aspects, their success… in short, we are talking about something that, if it is not taken too lightly (and it certainly is not), represents a significant challenge.
As reported by those from Cupertino, to prepare this list Apple was advised, and I quote verbatim, «A selected group of artists, incl Maren Morris, Pharrell Williams, J. Balvin, Charli XCX, Mark Hoppus, Honey Dijon and Nia Archivesas well as songwriters, producers and industry professionals«. Of course, this should put us on the path to something important, which is that we are talking about “the best”, not “the most important” or “the best selling”, and this attitude, even more so if it is signed by union professionals, the presence of some of us can to surprise and a number of other absences.
However, those from Cupertino decided not to give us the whole list at once, but in parts. So today they released the 10 albums that round out the list, from 100 to 91 (in descending order of course), so we know these positions are filled:
100. The body languageRobyn
99. Hotel California, Aquiline
98. ASTROWORLD, Travis Scott
97. Rage Against the MachineRage Against the Machine
96. Pure heroine, Lord
95. confessionsUSHER
94. FalseFuneral
93. Place at the tableSolange
92. flower boyTyler the Creator
91. Listen without prejudice 1, George Michael
Apple Music will release ten new albums every day until May 22the day we finally learn what it is, for the group of experts who made this selection, Top 10 Albums of All Time. In the meantime, until that day, do you want to bet on a specific album? If so, tell us in the comments. If you dare, we’ll be able to analyze the full list next week.
For starters, yes, I will get wet. If this was a list of the 100 greatest albums, I think Apple Music would include U2’s The Joshua Tree, but since we’re talking about the 100 greatest, I think if Irish people are on the list, it will be with Achtung DÃté.
