A rare panda Brown was spotted for the first time in six years in the Qinling Mountains in China’s Shaanxi province.

To confirm the effect of this mutation, the researchers used a technique CRISPR-Cas9 introduce the same deletion in mice.
The resulting mice also had a brown-white coloration, which confirms the gene mutation Bacce2 is responsible for the unusual coloring of these pandas.
