Adam Selipsky gives up
Adam Selipsky was the leader behind AWS for three years after leading AWS sales, marketing and support for 11 years. A new challenge was just around the corner and Selipsky said goodbye to the company. His successor, Matt Garman, will take over on June 3rd. He begins immediately with a major new investment in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud.
Great investment
AWS announces that it plans to invest more than 7.8 billion euros in the AWS European Sovereign Cloud in Germany by 2040. This fits with AWS’s mission to meet the European Union’s digital sovereignty needs in the longer term. AWS’s goal is to launch its first AWS region in the state of Brandenburg by the end of 2025 and make it available to all customers.
โThis investment underscores our commitment to providing customers with the most advanced sovereignty controls, privacy protections and security features available in the cloud. We are investing heavily in new local talent and infrastructure that will help ensure the operational sovereignty our customers need,โ said Max Peterson, vice president of Sovereign Cloud at AWS.
Choice and control
The AWS European Sovereign Cloud will be a new independent cloud for Europe designed to provide more choice to help public sector organizations and customers in highly regulated industries meet their evolving sovereignty needs, AWS said. Their goal is to provide customers with more control and choice to meet their unique digital sovereignty needs.
