Samsung plans to set up a new production line in its home market in South Korea that will focus on the production of larger OLED panels to be used in tablets and laptops. However, these screens will be sent to Apple later.

According to TheElec, the South Korean company will supply OLED displays for the next generation iPad and MacBook from this Cupertino giant site. It is noteworthy that this news is consistent with a previous report that predicted the iPad Pro will finally transition to OLED display support in 2024. Although Samsung initially believed that these display panels would be based on one of the existing lines.

But now the new report predicts that the company’s future production line will be set up at another facility and may produce OLED displays for laptops. In other words, the MacBook Pro’s future display will be an OLED panel supplied by Samsung. Rumor has it that this model will hit the market in 2025 or later. Apple has recently replaced the iPad and MacBook lineup with mini LED displays.

So the next step after the transition will be OLED. For those who don’t know, OLED panels have radiating pixels and don’t require backlighting like mini LED panels. This means that future iPad and MacBook models will help improve contrast ratio and increase battery life. OLED panels are now used in the latest lineup of iPhone and Apple Watch. Therefore, it was only a matter of time before other products had the same display technology. Source
