Debut from Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut on PC in general and on Steam in particular raised expectations as it was received after the introduction of the PlayStation Network (PSN), a service that is mandatory for multiplayer use. This situation allows it to run on Steam Deck as it is primarily a single player title, but at the cost of it being removed from many countries due to PSN not working in them.
Four days after its release, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut can boast of having achieved the highest number of concurrent players on Steam for a single-player PlayStation title. According to data provided by SteamDB, Sucker Punch Productions is being ported by Nixxes reached 77,154 concurrent players yesterday, which is why it crossed 73,529, that port of god of war 2018. Obviously, it holds the absolute record for a PlayStation game on Steam Helldivers 2with a peak of 458,709 players, but it is an online focused game.

However, the fact that the game had apparently good sales at the beginning does not necessarily mean that it was well received by the public. Here we find a 88% positive reviews on Steam, which is not bad at all, but could be better. Most of the positive reviews focus on thanking the existence of the PC port, while the negative ones focus on the presence of PSN and specific cases of users for whom the game won’t launch or works poorly for some reason.
Nixxes, which is an expert developer in ports for a PC which is lower than the PlayStation, it obviously did a good job considering the system requirements are low these days; and presence of DLSS 3, FSR 3 and XeSS; and this makes it possible to combine DLSS Super Resolution with AMD Fluid Motion Frames, which reveals an effort to reach the maximum possible audience regardless of the hardware used. In fact, we were able to confirm the results of this work in our technical analysis, but we warn that at least 16 GB of RAM is highly recommended for an optimal experience.

In short, and at least in its premiere Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut It was a success on Steam. Given the issue of PSN and the limitations it entails, not only at the level of the countries in which it operates, but given that it is vendor lock this in itself hurts every user who buys the game, one wonders if there is a need to raise awareness about it.
